What are the differences between the Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) and the Lithium batteries?

TopCaddy: The new and improved lithium battery for golf trundlers has a much better power storage, and can be stored in a smaller container. The lithium battery has a longer lifetime (about 1000 charges), it can also run for 36 holes per charge.

Meanwhile, the 12V 24Ah SLA battery’s lifetime is only about 300 charges and usually runs for 27 holes.

This reduces the total weight by 75% and the size by about 50%. Finally, without the lead, the battery is now much more environmentally friendly. The small downside to the lithium battery is that it has a higher price, but it has a better performance and value.

Can I retread my current Sealed Lead Acid(SLA) battery trundler or upgrade from a SLA to a lithium later?

TopCaddy: There is no exact standard when you need to replace the battery, you can check the voltage and estimate capacity of how it performs in use. The new Lead Acid (SLA) batteries should range between 13.3V-13.6V. The Lithium batteries fully charged should range between 14.4V-14.6V.

When the battery is used or aged, this maximum voltage will decrease. Also. If your battery is becoming slow at the end of a round, or not making 18 holes, it’s time to get a new battery!

To check that, re-charge the battery, then measure the voltage. If it reads far below the good range; you will need a new battery.

The Sealed Lead Acid (SLA) BATTERY QUESTIONS

How to handle and maintain the Sealed Lead Acid(SLA) battery in order to get optimal performance and life time?

Top Caddy: Before your first use, we strongly suggest you fully charge the battery, it might spend 6-8 hours to be full charged, and the indicator light will turn to be GREEN from RED, when charge is finished. Please move the battery off the charger if fully charged(the indicator light is green)

DO NOT stay the battery on the charger for long time when it is fully charged, it might damage the battery, and void the warranty.

DO NOT use up your battery, please charge after every 18 holes to make your battery to be designed life of the battery.

DO NOT store the battery in the cold environment, i.e. concrete or other cold surface.

NOTE: if you don’t use the battery for long time, it is recommended that the battery should be fully charged once every 6 weeks.

How many holes does the battery support on the course?

TopCaddy: Our batteries are designed to support on average for at least 27 holes or 6-7 hours of play per charge, but depending on the weight of your bag, your course situation and the distance of travel they might last longer or shorter.

However, we still recommend to recharge the battery after every 18 holes as complete deplete reduces the lifetime of a battery significantly!

The overall lifetime for sealed lead acid (SLA) and any other batteries used by any trundler is dependent on a variety of factors. Other than the number of charges, duration of charge, level of drainage, storage conditions and duration and overall shelf life.

We predict a battery lasting 300 charging cycles, if it is used frequently and according to instructions. Also, we do cover our batteries 100% according to our published policy.

Should I take the battery out of the battery carry case when charging?

TopCaddy: No, just let the battery stay in its’ case during charging or long-term storage.  But when the case is wet, please take the battery out.

The Lithium BATTERY QUESTIONS

How to handle and maintain the Lithium battery?

TopCaddy: Tips for helping you to get the maximum life of your Lithium battery

Please use the supplied Lithium battery charger for your battery ONLY! Any other charger may damage your battery and void the warranty.

Before your first use, we strongly suggest you fully charge the battery, it might spend 4-6 hours to be full charged, and the indicator light will turn to be GREEN from RED, when charge is finished.

DO NOT put the battery to be exposed at excessive hear, or direct sun for long time.

DO NOT store the battery in the hot areas, such as the garages under the direct sun etc.).

DO NOT let the battery be into water, otherwise the battery will be damaged and void the warranty。

Does my trundler have a brake?

TopCaddy: Our trundler(remote/non-remote) has the free-wheeling 12 DC motors which let you can push your trundler freely if it is out of battery, so you will never be stuck on the course. Also it is caused that the trolley will roll and accelerate downhill, so we recommend you should park it parallel to the decline, like as you are using the normal push cart. Please holding onto the trolley to avoid massive acceleration when going downhill.

What’s the meaning of the lights on the handle?

TopCaddy: There are Green, Yellow and Red lights on the handle indicate the level of charge of the battery. With use, the green light will disappear, then the yellow light, when the red light is on, the battery should be recharged

What should I do when I try to turn it on, but no power?

TopCaddy: Please check if all the parts connections are right and tight. Please ensure when you push the on/off button for 2-3 seconds to start the trundler.

My trundle moves to track to one side. What should I do?

TopCaddy: Sometimes, the weight in your bag is not distributed evenly, the trolley will move to track to that side, because the trolley will follow the weight and slope.

If still happened when the weight is balance, please test the tracking of your trundler without the bag. The tracking can be adjusted via the adjustment mechanism of the front wheel on trundler.

Please open the axle nut and tracking eye rod which is on the right side of the front wheel. Adjust the wheel via adjusting the screws as needed, the tracking will be going to left or right. But don’t over tighten the nuts, to keep the front wheel can spin freely. Again, the weight in your bag or the slope of course might affect the tracking.

I lost or replaced my remote control and just received a new replacement. How do I reprogram or resynchronise the new unit?

Check the new remote control, should be with a RED STOP button and an ON/OFF switch

Step #1 - Power your trundler off for at least five (5) seconds.
Step #2 - Hold down the stop button on the remote. Make sure the remote is powered on and the red light comes on.
Step #3 - Continue to hold down the stop button and power up trundler.
Step #4 - Continue to hold down the stop button until the LED light on the handle blinks.
Step #5 - Trundler is now in "sync".

Test each function to ensure all are functioning.
